Family History
Chart

The surname DUCK is not common though nor could it be described as rare in the UK.   This page is about the family and descendants of John Duck (or Dook) from Scotland.   Any details that you can add, especially corrections will be gratefully received.   GeoffStone@Wedmore.org.uk

The following is yet available:-

John Dook

This particular Duck family are first found in Glasgow where John Dook, a merchant, had his daughter baptised in 1683.   Her mother's name was given as Elspeth Jack.   John Dook is later found at Kinghorn in Fife (1686) where his younger children were baptised.

The eldest son John became a mariner and in 1706 married Mary Beazley, a Quaker, at Wapping in Middlesex.   There is no evidence of John senior being married in Glasgow, nor of the baptism of his son John there.   It is not known where the family came from before their stay in Glasgow.   However, the surname Jack is very much a Scottish name, so it is likely that Elspeth was born in Scotland and probably married there.

The following table is in sections by generation.   The chart is read from left to right with the earliest generation at the left and the eldest children at the top.   Numbered links to the next section are shown to the right if there are more descendants.   The numbers themselves have no significance, other than their position in the entire Stone family tree.   At the top of each section to the left is a numbered link to the earlier generations, where applicable.Chart Information
